Authorities are asking for help from the public in an investigation into a dog recently found shot to death in West Paducah, and one that was abandoned.

McCracken County Animal Control says a citizen found two dogs near Noble Road on the bank of Massac Creek. One of the dogs, a male, had reportedly been shot in the head with a shotgun. The other dog, a female, was found malnourished, but alive.

Animal Control tells West Kentucky Star there is an ongoing investigation into the situation, but no additional details were shared.

We've attached a photo of the female dog. A photo of the dog that was shot has been circulating on social media, but due to its graphic nature we have chosen not to post it on our site.

Anyone with any information about the case is asked to contact Animal Control at 270-331-6417.
