Paducah's 54th Annual Dogwood Trail winners received signs in their yards, just in time for Dogwood Trail trolley rides Thursday evening.

Trolleys left the Paducah Area Transit System (PATS) headquarters, 850 Harrison St. at 7:30 pm. A $1 per rider fee went to PATS to help offset the added service. A Civic Beautification Board member was on board to talk with guests as the trolley drives selected parts of this year's Dogwood Trail and a Paducah Ambassador was on hand to greet riders as they arrived. "It was a perfect evening to ride, walk or bike the trail," says Dabney Haugh, Dogwood Trail Co-Chairman.

Tuesday evening CBB members judged the "lighted" dogwoods both ON and OFF the trail. Homes that had not won in two years were eligible to win and all now have signs placed in their yards. There were 9 on trail winners and 4 off trail winners.

Residents are encouraged to continue lighting their blooming trees, shrubs and/or plants through the weekend-or until the blooms start to fade. If you don't have anything blooming, turn on your porch lights. Dabney Haugh, CBB Dogwood Trail Co-Chairman, says, "Today the blooms are totally wide open and absolutely beautiful! We are nearing the peak of this blooming season."

"Thank you, thank you, Paducah. It makes a huge difference when homes are lighted along the trail. Since we call it a 'lighted' trail, it's important as visitors and locals drive from neighborhood to neighborhood, lights are on and everyone feels welcome as we celebrate spring in Paducah. The CBB appreciates all the efforts that go into lighting and preparation of lawns and gardens each spring. It truly makes a positive difference in how our community looks and feels this time of year. Thank you, Paducah!" said Dogwood Trail Chairman Jackie Smith.
