Don Alvey, Original WPSD-TV Director Dies

A local man who recently returned home to have a medical procedure has died.

Don Alvey, of Paducah was fighting leukemia, had recently suffered a heart attack and was airlifted to Paducah for a surgical procedure last week. Alvey passed away during surgery on Tuesday.

Alvey was one of the original 20 members of the WPSD-TV crew, where he directed newscasts, including every WPSD Lions Club Telethon of the Stars.

Alvey is survived by his wife Judy and son Ron.

Funeral arrangements are pending.
