Dragon Boats Bring Big Fun to Riverfront

PADUCAH, KY - Paducah's second Dragon Boat Festival welcomed 32 teams and lots of excitement to the riverfront Saturday. Huge crowds, estimated by organizers to be between four and five thousand, gathered to cheer on their favorite teams.
Rowers, team participants, onlookers, organizers and families enjoyed the festivities and food during the one-day festival organized by the River Discovery Center. Proceeds from the event benefitted the center's educational programs.
This year's first place winner of the 250 meter race (for the second year) was MSU Paducah Racers with a rowing time of 1 minute and 3.49 seconds. Second place was KeeFORCE-In I.T to Win I.T. with a rowing time of 1 minute and 8.3 seconds. Third place winner was the Orthopedic Institute - Bone Collectors with a rowing time of 1 minute and 8.6 seconds.
The best team area winner was Marine Systems, Inc. Tai-1-On with a Mardi Gras theme. Best dressed drummer went to Ingram Barge Rock 'n' Rowers team.
