The McCracken County PVA has announced an extension on tax due dates.

McCracken County PVA Bill Dunn said his office has been notified that due to ongoing COVID-19 concerns, the Finance and Administration Cabinet Secretary Johnson has issued an order delaying the tax due dates by 60 days.

Dunn says this affects tangible property returns, assessment notices, inspection period, county board of appeals, setting of tax rates, mailing tax bills, and possibly tax collection as follows:

• Tangible property return deadline changed from May 15 to July 15
• Tax roll inspection period changed from 5/4/2020-5/18/2020 to 7/6/2020 -7/20/2020
• County Board of Assessment changed from 6/24/2020 to 8/19/2020
• Tax rates set from mid-October to mid-November
• 2020 tax bill collections begin in November and December

The PVA office intends to continue mailing 2020 assessment notices towards the end of April. The notices will include the above deadlines that will allow property owners to have an in-person meeting with the PVA office after the Emergency ends.

Dunn reminds the public that during the State of Emergency their office is closed to the public, but say they are available to communicate by phone or email.
