A two-car collision on Benton Road in Reidland left one driver charged with DUI.

The driver of one of the vehicles involved said it was trying to keep her food from sliding around that caused her to cross the center line and strike another vehicle on Benton Road around 5:30 pm Sunday. The driver of that vehicle, 67-year-old Dan Fuller of Paducah, was removed from the scene by Mercy ambulance after his vehicle landed in a ditch.

39-year-old Kimberly Wallace of Benton said she was on her way to her mother's house for Easter supper when the collision happened.

Visibly shaken and speaking through tears, Wallace repeatedly said, "I just hope he'll be okay. I just hope he'll be okay. I've ruined Easter for him."

Traffic was backed up in both directions for one hour.

The investigation showed Wallace's car was traveling south east on Benton Road when it swerved into the path of Fuller's car.   According to witnesses, the vehicle operated by Wallace was driving erratically prior to the collision.  During the investigation, deputies arrested Kimberly Wallace for Operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol-drugs 1st offense and reckless driving.
