A dedication ceremony and ribbon-cutting was held Tuesday at the new Ray and Kay Eckstein Regional Cancer Care Center in Paducah.

Ray Eckstein and family, Baptist Health Paducah leaders and staff, and invited guests dedicated the 56,000-square foot facility at the corner of 24th and Broadway that will offer a host of cancer services.

The center will be open for public tours on Wednesday afternoon. Tours for cancer survivors will be held from 2-3 p.m. The general public is invited to see the facility from 3-5 p.m.

Dr. Peter Locken, Radiation Oncologist and Baptist Health board member, spoke at the dedication. He said, "It's a glorious day. This is a great asset to the community as over 1,200 cancer patients look to be treated in a year.  This [center] is going to make their treatment easier."

In a press release, Baptist Heath Paducah Hospital President William A. Brown said, "Fighting cancer is hard - not just for the patient, but also on the family. We help them through the fight of their lives with a dedicated staff of cancer experts, the latest technology and now this convenient center to make the journey as comfortable as possible."

The center will open to receive patients July 10.
