Season's First 'Bikes on Broadway' This Afternoon
By West Kentucky Star Staff
PADUCAH, KY - Pack your bicycle and come out this afternoon for this year's first Bikes on Broadway event.

This is the seventh year for Paducah Parks Services and BikeWorld to sponsor the free events.

The city closes a stretch of Broadway in Paducah to vehicular traffic from 1 until 4 pm, so you can bring your bicycle, skates, skateboards, scooters, tricycles, strollers, or running shoes for a fun day of strolling and riding along Broadway. Vehicles will not be permitted on Broadway between 4th and 17th Streets, allowing for a safe riding environment for people-powered vehicles. Also, many of the side streets are not heavily travelled and are great for exploring; however, caution is encouraged as these streets will not be included in the barricaded area.

BikeWorld will be set up at 17th Street to provide mechanical help and other assistance. Drivers can cross Broadway with the assistance of volunteers at the intersections of 9th Street and 13th Street.

Bikes on Broadway will be held the second Sunday of each month through October.  Additional 2014 dates are July 13, August 10, September 14, and October 12.
