Four Vehicle Accident Sends Three to Hospital
By Jeremy Newberry
McCRACKEN CO. KY - Saturday at 9:28 am, the McCracken County Sheriffs Department received a call for a multiple vehicle injury accident in the 2300 block of New Holt Road. Upon arrival, deputies found that 26-year-old Erwin A. Sandoval of Paducah was operating a pickup truck on New Holt Road just north of North Friendship Road. Sandoval, for what appears to be medical reasons, struck three other motorists who were also driving northbound on New Holt Road.

After passing through the intersection of New Holt and North Friendship, Sandoval reportedly pushed the accelerator instead of the brake pedal and struck the rear of a car driven by 39-year-old Robert E. McChristian, along with his passenger 43-year-old Kimberly A. McChristian, both from Paducah, causing their vehicle to leave the roadway.

Sandoval continued northbound until he struck a second car, driven by 35-year-old Kelly R. Madden from Bardwell, causing it to leave the roadway and overturn in front of Energy Fitness. Sandoval continued northbound, striking a truck driven by a 60-year-old Al F. Hammonds Jr., from Melber.

Sandoval's vehicle came to rest in a ditch on the east side of the roadway. Sandoval, Mrs. McChristian and Madden were all treated on the scene and transported to area hospitals for non-life threatening injuries.

The road was closed for approximately an hour and a half for the investigation and the cleanup of the collision. Sandoval was cited at the hospital for no operators license, and for driving his vehicle on a permit without a licensed driver.
