Fulton Man Arrested for Passing Counterfeit Bills

Police have arrested a Fulton man they suspect is the man who passed counterfeit $100 bills at several Paducah businesses earlier this week, after he was reportedly caught doing the same thing at a Paducah restaurant yesterday. 



Paducah Police saidthe manager at Bob Evans Restaurant on Hinkleville Road called Thursday morning to report that a man, identified as 51-year-old Robert P. Morton had tried to pass a phony $100 bill. Police identified Morton as the man shown on surveillance who is accused of passing a bad bills Tuesday at Walgreens on Paducah’s south side, and reportedly id'ed by employees at Kirchhoff’s bakery in downtown Paducah. Police said that during a search, an officer found a pipe with suspected cocaine residue in Morton's pocket.



Morton was charged with first-degree possession of a controlled substance (cocaine), possession of drug paraphernalia and three counts of first-degree criminal possession of a forged instrument. He was booked into McCracken County Regional Jail.

Paducah police are warning businesses and seeking the public’s help in identifying a man suspected of passing counterfeit $100 bills at several Paducah businesses.



According to Paducah Police, an employee of Walgreen’s at 3360 Irvin Cobb Drive called police Tuesday afternoon and reported what appeared to be a counterfeit $100 bill had been passed at the business.



Police said officers have taken similar reports Tuesday at Little Caesar’s Pizza, Dunkin’ Donuts, Kirchoff’s and Victorian Parlor Antiques.



Surveillance video at Walgreens reportedly shows the suspect to be a tall, thin black male, about 30 years of age, with a goatee. He has gold around the outer edges of his top teeth.



Businesses are reminded to take extra care when accepting cash payments. Anyone with information about the man’s identity is asked to call the Paducah Police Department at 270-444-8550 or Crime Stoppers at 270-443-TELL. Information leading to an arrest or indictment may result in a reward of up to $1,000.
