Kentucky gasoline prices fell 9 cents per gallon in the past week, averaging $2.40, according to GasBuddy.com's survey of the state's gas stations. This compares with the national average that has fallen 5 cents per gallon in the last week to $2.55.

Kentucky prices yesterday were 25 cents per gallon higher than the same day one year ago and are 16 cents per gallon higher than a month ago.

In Paducah, prices ranged from $2.31 to $2.48.

"For the second straight week, almost every state saw average gasoline prices fall notably as refineries continue to heal after Harvey and work on restoring production of motor fuels," said Patrick DeHaan, senior petroleum analyst for GasBuddy.

"The continued decline at gas pumps will bring the national average down another 5-10 cents in the week ahead.  Nationwide, it will take weeks or months to see gasoline inventories recover fully, but prices will continue to slowly drift lower as inventories improve," DeHaan said.
