Average gasoline prices in Kentucky have fallen 3 cents per gallon in the past week, averaging $2.15 a gallon Sunday. This compares with the national average that has fallen almost two cents per gallon in the last week to $2.21 a gallon, according to gasoline price website GasBuddy.com.

Kentucky prices were 5 cents per gallon higher than the same day one year ago.

In Paducah, prices range $1.96 to $2.19 a gallon. In Calvert City, it could be found for 1.97,  2.01 in Mayfield, 2.03 in Murray and in Benton it was as low as 2.04.

"For the first week in the last 833 days, the national average price for gasoline stands higher than it did a year ago. The trend of consistently lower gas prices is showing signs of fading away as a likely production cut will be addressed at the OPEC meeting in November," said Patrick DeHaan, senior petroleum analyst for GasBuddy.

"If OPEC cuts crude oil production, expect gas prices this winter to stay higher than last year. If OPEC doesn't cut production, gas prices would likely drop in many areas across the country. Either way, don't expect gas prices this winter to drop as low as last year, and certainly don't expect next summer's gas prices to be as low as this year," DeHaan added.
