Georgia Truck Driver Arrested On Drug Charges

PADUCAH, KY - A Georgia man is in jail following his arrest on DUI and drug charges according to the McCracken County Sheriff's Department.
On Wednesday deputies received a call about a tractor trailer that had been weaving and striking several traffic barrels in the construction zone in the westbound lane of I-24
Deputies were able to locate and stop the truck as it passed exit 11.
After stopping the truck deputies discovered the driver, 53-year-old Ricky Johnson of Forest Park, Georgia, to be allegedly under the influence of methamphetamine. Johnson was then given a standardized field sobriety test and placed under arrest for operating his vehicle under the influence of methamphetamine
Johnson was charged with additional drug charges after the Sheriff’s Department's K9 unit was then brought in and discovered a quantity of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia in the cab of the truck. Deputies also discovered Johnson had allegedly smoked methamphetamine prior to operating his vehicle a short time before he was stopped.
