Group Ranks WKCTC Among Top Colleges Nationwide

West Kentucky Community and Technical College in Paducah has made the list of 2019 Best Online Community Colleges Nationwide, according to a recent survey by an education group based in Washington.

SR Education Group in Kirkland, Washington rated West Kentucky Community and Technical College 17th out of 25 top schools in a recent survey that looked at retention rate, online enrollment percentage, and the number of online associate degrees offered. Graduation rate or retention rate was reportedly weighted most highly in order to ensure that the rankings highlight the schools whose students are most likely to earn a degree.

Program data including available degrees, tuition rates, and details about program coursework were collected from schools' official websites, reflecting data for the 2018-2019 school year. Programmatic accreditations and profit statuses of schools were collected from official websites of the accreditation agencies or from the National Center for Education Statistics.

With 25 online associate degree programs and a retention rate of 64 percent, WKCTC makes the list of 2019 Best Online Community Colleges Nationwide.

Some of the degrees offered are in business administration systems, computer and information technologies, criminal justice, logistics and operations management, marine technology and medical information technology. Multiple tracks are available for each, and Associate of Arts and Associate of Science transfer degrees are offered as well. The programs are fully online, and students can arrange for proctored exams in their own locale. About 22 percent of WKCTC’s students are online learners.
