The west side of the intersection near Paducah's Hannan Plaza will be severely restricted for about the next week because of drainage work.
The work will begin Wednesday on the northwest corner of the intersection of Lone Oak Road (U.S. Hwy. 45) and Alben Barkley Drive (U.S. Hwy. 62), and should take 3-5 days to complete if the weather cooperates.
An alternate route is strongly recommended to avoid delays.
Dirt work has begun on a parcel of land alongside Alben Barkley Drive for a park. Independence Bank bought the property several years ago, planning to build a bank branch there, but complaints by the West End Neighborhood Association about potential heavy traffic on Forest Circle prompted the bank to choose another location. They promised to build a community park instead.
