Heartland Rehabilitation Services employee Carrie Gottschalk Singler was recently awarded an Employee Volunteer Grant from parent company HCR ManorCare to benefit the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation One Walk.

According to a news release, the Employee Volunteer Grant Program supports HCR ManorCare employees who make a difference in their communities by contributing their time and talents to local non-profit organizations. Through this program, employees who volunteer may apply for cash grants of $500 to support the non-profit organizations they assist.  An employee committee nominated by company leaders reviews the grant applications and makes its recommendations to the HCR ManorCare Gives' board of directors for final selection.

The JDRF One Walk is the flagship fundraising event and the largest Type 1 Diabetes event in the world. JDRF is the leading global organization funding promising, life-changing research to find a cure for T1D. It’s the goal of JDRF to progressively remove the impact of the disease from people’s lives until we achieve a world without T1D.

The Four Rivers JDRF One Walk serving the Purchase Area will take place on August 19 at Noble Park, and The Louisville One Walk is scheduled for October 21 at Churchill Downs. Heartland Rehabilitation Services is the outpatient physical therapy division of HCR ManorCare. Heartland has outpatient clinic locations across Kentucky including Paducah, Murray, Glasgow, Edmonton, Horse Cave, Berea, London, Richmond, and Alexandria.
