Here's an Opportunity to Show Your Photography
By WestKyStar Staff
PADUCAH, KY - Looking for an opportunity to show your photography?
When you enter your work into Paducah 2013, and you live in one of the following counties, it will be automatically entered into the Regional Showcase selection pool. Regional Showcase Counties include: McCracken, Ballard, Carlisle, Fulton, Graves, Hickman, Marshall, Livingston, Calloway, Trigg, Massac, Pulaski and Pope. Regional photographers, teachers and curators will then choose the selected work to be displayed and awarded at Maiden Alley Cinema. This is an exhibition of local talent.
"The regional exhibition provides area photographers with an incentive to not only select their best new work and to compete in both contests, but if selected, to ready it for gallery exhibition," Paducah Photo committee member and photographer Bob Shapiro said. "There is also a strong educational component to be gained from competing with and viewing the works of others. It's all very exciting and provides substantial motivation and reward for their artistic effort."
"One of the most exciting aspects of Paducah Photo 2013 is the level of new energy behind it. The Yeiser Art Center's new director Josh White and administrative assistant John Paul Henry, himself an experienced photographer, have brought many fresh ideas to the competition that should greatly expand its scope and outreach," Shapiro said.
