Hundreds Lose Power Near Barkley Field After Crash
By West Kentucky Star Staff
WEST PADUCAH, KY - A single-vehicle accident Thursday caused power lines to come down on U.S. Highway 62 in McCracken County, blocking the highway and interrupting electrical service to several hundred homes.

The accident occurred at the intersection with Buchanan Road, which connects to Old Hinkleville Road and Fisher Road near Barkley Regional Airport.

At about 4:20 pm, a vehicle reportedly ran off the highway and struck a power pole. The power lines came down on the highway, forcing it to close.

Emergency vehicles responded to the scene along with a Jackson Purchase Energy bucket truck. Close to 500 customers had no electricity because of the downed line, according to the JPEC website's outage map.
