By WestKyStar Staff
PADUCAH, KY - The Regional Homeschool Geographic Bee was held Friday in Murray, for area homeschoolers grades four through eight.

This year's regional winner is 13-year-old Hunter Watkins, son of Mr. and Mrs. Don H. Watkins of Paducah. This is the third year Hunter has participated in the geographic bee. He missed only one question in the second round, and did not miss a single question in the championship round.

Hunter will advance to the next level of competition with a written examination to determine his participation at the state level.  All school winners are eligible to win the national championship and its first prize, a $25,000 college scholarship, at the national competition May 20-22 in Washington, D.C. "Jeopardy!" host Alex Trebek will moderate the national finals, and the program will air on televison.

Students participated from Ballard, McCracken, Marshall and Calloway counties, and the bee was held at the Murray Family Church in Murray.  LAMP Homeschoolers of Calloway County, Inc. sponsored the bee.
