A traffic stop early Wednesday morning has resulted in the arrest of two Paducah residents.

According to the McCracken County Sheriff's Department, deputies made a traffic stop on I-24 near the nine mile marker for traffic violations. They immediately noticed that the driver, 25-year-old Calvin R. Bingham showed signs of being under the influence of drugs. They determined that he was under the influence of methamphetamine, and other controlled substances. It was also found that Bingham's license was suspended from a previous DUI conviction, and he is a convicted felon from several felony offenses.

Deputies conducted a search of Bingham, and also the vehicle, and allegedly found methamphetamine, marijuana, controlled substances, drug paraphernalia, and $221.00 in cash, which they believe to be proceeds of illegal drug sales. In addition, they found a loaded handgun, along with additional ammunition, which they say he had tried to hide before the vehicle was pulled over.

A passenger in the car, 27-year old Christian H. Ringstaff, was also searched, and deputies allegedly found additional quantities of methamphetamine, marijuana, and drug paraphernalia.

Bingham was charged on numerous drug offenses, as well as driving too slow, DUI, driving on a suspended license, and careless driving. Ringstaff was charged with 1st degree trafficking in controlled substances-methamphetamine, possession of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Both Bingham and Ringstaff were arrested and lodged in the McCracken County Regional Jail.
