PADUCAH, KY - A Paducah man is facing a variety of charges after he allegedly threatened several people and tried to steal a cell phone Monday night.

Officers report that 47-year-old Jeffrey S. Carpenter would not return a phone belonging to a Paducah woman, and allegedly tried to cut her and two other men with a knife during a disagreement.

The three told officers that they struggled with Carpenter, and even stepped on his hand, in an effort to get him to let go of the knife.

Carpenter reportedly fled when officers arrived, running about a block before being subdued and taken into custody. He was taken to the McCracken County Jail, charged with first-degree robbery, fleeing or evading police, alcohol intoxication, resisting arrest, and disorder conduct.
