Judge Denies Motion for New Trial for Tonya Ray
By Bill Hughes
PADUCAH - Fifteen days after a jury found former McCracken County Jailer Tonya Ray guilty of perjury, a request for a new trial has been denied.

Attorney Thomas Clay, who represents Ray, told West Kentucky Star on Friday that he filed a motion for a new trial within a few days of her January 30 conviction.

A telephone hearing was held at 11 am Friday, and Clay said his motion was denied by the judge.

Clay said he now plans to appeal the verdict on his client's behalf.
