Mark Taylor Murder Trial Begins This Week

PADUCAH, KY - The trial of Mark Taylor is set to begin in McCracken Circuit Court this week, as a jury has now been selected. Taylor is charged with murder and kidnapping in connection to the December 2010 death of Casondra Evrard of Paducah.
Jury selection lasted several days, as the death penalty will be an option if Taylor is convicted. Circuit Judge Craig Clymer has set aside a period of just over two weeks for the trial.
Evrard was 21 when she disappeared Dec. 10, 2010. McCracken County Sheriff Jon Hayden found Evrard’s body along the bank of Massac Creek, not far from the Taylors’ home. Evrard was a friend of Taylor's daughter Jasmine, who is set for trial in March. Evrard had said she was on her way to the Taylor home for ice cream before she went missing.
Mark Taylor's wife, Jamie, pleaded guilty to murder and kidnapping earlier this month. She will serve a life sentence, with eligibility for parole in 20 years. Prosecutors say they may call on her to testify in the trials of her husband and daughter.
Four other defendants in the case have entered guilty pleas on various charges.
