Paducah Defense Attorney Mark Bryant will no longer be representing Keith Griffith.

According to the McCracken County Circuit Court Clerk, Bryant filed a motion Friday to withdraw as Griffith's defense attorney.

Bryant's partner, Emily Roarke, spoke to WKYX and West Kentucky Star and explained.

"Our firm has been handling that case for about 13-14 months now, and we just can't continue to do that because we have other clients. Mark and I have been handling it for about two months now, and unable to do anything else, so we just can't continue to do that," Roarke said.

Bryant's office defended Griffith during his recent murder and arson trial, which ended in a mistrial due to a deadlocked jury.

Roarke said she doesn't know if Griffith has secured another attorney.

"We talked to his family, and his sons, and continue to have a good relationship with him, and so he's aware of his options, and we don't know exactly what he's going to do at this point," Roarke said.

The ruling on Bryant's motion is set for Friday at 10:30 am.

Immediately after the mistrial, McCracken Circuit Judge Tim Kaltenbach set a new pre-trial conference for March 12 at 9:00 am. Griffith remains jailed on $1,000,000 bond.
