A Kevil man was arrested Friday and charged with a number of offenses after allegedly stealing and scrapping an aluminum boat at a recycling center last week.

The McCracken County Sheriff's Dept. reports that 39-year-old Daniel J. Clayton allegedly stole the boat from a home in the 3700 block of Old Mayfield Rd. and took it to Garrett's Recycling in Paducah.

Deputies were sent to a home on Ogden Landing Rd. Friday morning to speak with Clayton, who reportedly took off in his vehicle after seeing officers arrive. A boat trailer that had been reported stolen was located in the front yard of the home.

Detectives stopped Clayton in the the area of Gibson and Futrell roads in Kevil. He was arrested and charged with receiving stolen property and fleeing and evading police.

Clayton was taken to the McCracken County Jail without further incident.

Clayton's truck and the boat trailer were seized along with other items, pending the outcome of the investigation.
