This year, Paducah's Labor Day parade will take a different route to avoid downtown demolition work.

According to the Western Kentucky Labor Day Committee, Monday's parade will begin at 9:30 am at 14th and Broadway, and head downtown. Once the parade reaches 7th Street, it will turn left, then turn right on Jefferson Street until it disbands at Water Street.

The parade route had to be amended this year due to the demolition of the building located at 432 Broadway, and accompanying lane and sidewalk restrictions.

Before the parade begins, Broadway will be closed between 14th and 17th Streets for the marshaling of the parade entries.  A section of North 17th also will be used for the marshaling.

The parade route will close at 9:00 am and remain closed until the parade safely passes.

Pets are allowed at parades. However, Paducah ordinances require that the dog must be licensed, restrained by a leash or lead that is no longer than three feet, and restrained by a muzzle.

Other Labor Day closures and notes from the City of Paducah:

City Hall will be closed Monday.

The City of Paducah will not collect brush or limbs on Monday.

The trash collection schedule for the Labor Day week will not change.

The compost facility on North 8th Street will be closed on Monday, but will resume normal operating hours on Tuesday.

This is the final week to enjoy the Robert Coleman Sprayground at the corner of Walter Jetton Boulevard and Husbands Street. The spraypark is open daily from 10:00 am until 8:00 pm through Tuesday, September 8.
