A traffic stop late Friday night for a vehicle equipment violation led to a man's arrest.

A McCracken County Sheriff's Deputy pulled over a car on Irvin Cobb Drive at 11:37 pm for not having the license plate illuminated. While speaking with the driver, 57-year-old Richard Meadows of Paducah, the deputy reported he could smell marijuana. Further investigation led to the discovery of hydrocodone pills without a prescription. The deputy says Meadows admitted he had illegally purchased the pills.

Meadows was arrested for possession of a controlled substance 1st degree, in addition to the vehicle violation. He was taken to McCracken County Jail.
