Library to Host Free Media Training Workshop

The McCracken County Public Library is partnering with the Foundation for a Healthy Kentucky to host a free workshop aimed at helping nonprofit organizations work effectively with the media to improve news coverage of their efforts.

The workshop will be held from 12:30 p.m. to 3 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 24 in the library’s meeting room. The Foundation for a Healthy Kentucky’s Bonnie J. Hackbarth, will teach nonprofits a basic understanding of media messaging, pre-interview preparation techniques, key strategies for a media interview and the basics of an effective news release.

The workshop is free, but seating is limited. Early registration is encouraged. Those who are interested in the workshop can register online at https://www.regonline.com/H4CMediaWorkshopOct24.

Bonnie J. Hackbarth has more than 30 years of communications experience. Bonnie joined the Foundation in April 2016 and manages media relations, government affairs and the Coalition for a Smoke-Free Tomorrow at the Foundation.

Bonnie has also served in senior communications roles in the U.S. Senate, the White House Office of Consumer Affairs and the U.S. Federal Trade Commission. Bonnie earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in communications and public relations from Washington State University and has done graduate work in public administration at George Washington University.
