Lourdes and Mercy Health held a grand opening, blessing and ribbon cutting Thursday for the new Lourdes Behavioral Health Institute.

According to a press release, the new department offers comprehensive services for inpatients and outpatients, who will benefit from the latest innovations in safety features and a multi-sensory environment that includes music, color, lighting and exercise equipment to help patients reach their behavior management goals. The expanded center includes adult and geriatric services; a Partial Hospitalization Program; and Intensive Outpatient Program. All programs and services will continue to provide evidence-based psychotherapeutic treatment provided by certified and licensed clinicians.

"Behavioral health is a critical component to one's life and well-being and needs to be integrated in the full continuum of care," said Steven Grinnell, Lourdes President and CEO." Through the Lourdes Behavioral Health Institute, we have created a comprehensive approach to behavioral health care that doesn't currently exist in our market today."

The Behavioral Health Institute, along with the expanded adult and geriatric behavioral services are located on the sixth floor of the hospital. The Partial Hospitalization Program, Intensive Outpatient Program and outpatient clinic expansion will soon be located in a newly designed space on the third floor of the Lourdes Marshall Nemer Pavilion.

The Behavioral Health Institute at Lourdes is part of Mercy Health's behavioral Health Institute, which operates behavioral health facilities in Kentucky and Ohio. Mercy Health is Lourdes parent organization.
