In response to health care industry changes, Lourdes Hospital announced more layoffs Thursday.

The hospital has eliminated 29 more non-clinical billing and finance positions. This is the second round of layoffs at the facility since May.

Lourdes director of marketing and communications David Simmons said restructuring this year has consolidated 58 part-time and full-time positions. This represents 3.7 percent of the hospital’s workforce.

The 20 bed Lourdes Transitional Care nursing facility was closed in early May. That facility was designed to help patients adjust to life back home following an extended hospital stay. At that time 29  management and non-clinical positions were eliminated.

Catholic Health Partners, the Cincinnati-based sponsor of Lourdes, operates 24 hospitals and employs about 33,000 people with nearly 5,600 affiliated physicians across the country.

In a statement, Lourdes said the hospital is actively recruiting for 41 open positions. All affected employees were encouraged to apply for any of the open positions for which they qualify.
