Paducah Main Street, a division of the Paducah Planning Department, is in the final stages of organizing three annual events in downtown Paducah that will create a festive mood and help the community tackle its holiday shopping lists.

Downtown Development Specialist-Main Street Director Melinda Winchester says, “These events are becoming traditions in historic downtown Paducah. Each event has specials at restaurants and plenty of great holiday shopping deals. But more importantly, these events allow businesses, visitors, and citizens to engage with each other, enjoy the holiday season, and build connections while supporting local businesses and enjoying the atmosphere of downtown Paducah.”

Holiday Open House: The holiday shopping season will kick off Sunday, Nov. 5 with the Holiday Open House. From noon until 5 pm, nearly two dozen stores and restaurants will be open in downtown Paducah to put you in a festive mood and help you start finding those perfect presents.

Dickens of a Christmas Small Business Saturday: On the Saturday after Thanksgiving, historic downtown Paducah will be bustling with holiday shoppers and Christmas cheer. On November 25, enjoy the 4th Annual Dickens of a Christmas Small Business Saturday. Small Business Saturday, which was founded by American Express in 2010, is dedicated to supporting small businesses across the country. During the event, Broadway will be closed between 2nd Street and Water Street.

From 10 am until 4 pm, downtown Paducah will be transformed into a magical Dickens atmosphere with free Victorian carriage rides, dancers, carolers, and characters in costume. There will be s’mores at the fire pit near the gazebo, roasted nuts, wassail, free coffee, and plenty of lunch and shopping specials. Santa and Mrs. Clause will make a grand appearance in a carriage. Kids also can look forward to special appearances by Anna and Elsa from Frozen, Cinderella, the Grinch, and several characters from the town of Whoville.

Last Shopping Saturday Before Christmas: The Last Shopping Saturday Before Christmas event will be December 16 in historic downtown Paducah.  On that date, many stores will be open from 10 am until 8 pm offering special deals.  Plus, several restaurants and distilleries will have specials for shoppers to enjoy.
