A Paducah man was arrested Thursday afternoon on contempt of court charges.

The Paducah Police Department says 24-year-old Cameron D. Shumpert was indicted by a McCracken County Grand Jury in November on charges of tampering with physical evidence, being a felon in possession of a handgun, and being a persistent felony offender.

Shumpert was released on bond in January, but a warrant was issued for his arrest when police discovered he had violated the terms of his release earlier this month.

Detectives later got word that Shumpert was staying at a home in the 600 Block of Jameswood Drive. They served a search warrant at the home and arrested Shumpert without further incident.

He was booked into McCracken County Regional Jail.
