In early April, the McCracken County Sheriff’s Department began investigating a theft case involving the sale of a home. According to police, the victim reported that 46-year-old Jeremy L. Caudle was making arrangements to buy a home on Old Mayfield Road. Caudle reportedly told the victim that he was about to close on a loan and purchase the home, and the victim agreed to provide him with more than $2700 to go toward closing costs.
After the alleged closing date passed, the victim reportedly made several attempts to contact Caudle without success, and discovered that Caudle had moved out of the home and skipped town.
Detectives said they tried to contact Caudle several times before consulting with the Commonwealth Attorney’s office. An arrest warrant was issued, and detectives later learned that Caudle was living in Livermore.
Caudle was located and arrested Thursday on a charge of theft by failure to make required disposition over $500.00, as well as charges from Graves County. He was taken to the McCracken County Jail.
Detectives said they later discovered that Caudle has a history of theft by deception type offenses in several western Kentucky counties dating back to the early 90’s.
