According to the McCracken County Sheriff's Department, Tara Byers, of Kevil discovered a pinhole camera hidden behind a wall painting in her bedroom. After discovering the camera, Tara contacted police.
Police determined that between October of last year and June 24, 38-year-old Michael Byers installed a pinhole camera in Tara's bedroom by creating a small hole in a painting and attaching it to the back side. He then allegedly ran audio and video cables through the wall and up into the attic, where a digital video recorder was discovered by detectives.
Detectives say the recorder was connected to an ethernet cable and the home's wi-fi system, which allowed Michael to view the video remotely. Police said they believe the system had been installed for several months.
Byers was arrested Wednesday on charges of 2nd degree burglary, installing an eavesdropping device, eavesdropping, violation of an emergency protective order, 1st degree criminal trespassing, and theft.
