A Paducah man was arrested Sunday afternoon on a burglary charge after police say he broke into Hendron Elementary School.
The McCracken County Sheriff's Office says a woman took her children to the school's playground, and called 911 at around 1:30 p.m. after noticing a broken window. Deputies arrived a short time later and began checking the immediate area. After about five minutes a man, later identified as 19-year-old Jae'don Blanchard of Paducah, ran out the rear entrance of the school.
A deputy arrested Blanchard without incident on a third degree burglary charge after finding him running though yards on Lakeview Drive.
Deputies said Blanchard tried to steal several electronic items worth more than a thousand dollars. He also reportedly broke two windows, a desk, and an outdoor storage box containing sports equipment.
Blanchard was booked into the McCracken County Regional Jail.
