A Paducah man was arrested early Sunday morning on multiple drug charges after a traffic stop.

The McCracken County Sheriff's Department says a deputy spotted a vehicle making numerous traffic violations on John Puryear Drive, and pulled over the pickup truck just after midnight. As deputies were verifying the vehicle and license information, the driver, 32-year-old John A. Jones, reportedly fled from the scene on foot and ran behind a local business.

With the help of the McCracken County Jail's K-9 officer and Paducah police officers, Jones was found a short distance away.

Deputies say Jones had cocaine, methamphetamine, diazepam pills and marijuana in his possession, and they were packaged in a manner consistent with drug sales.

Jones was arrested and charged with three counts of trafficking in a controlled substance, one count of trafficking in marijuana, tampering with evidence, possesion of drug paraphernalia, and fleeing or evading police. He was taken to McCracken County Jail.
