An Illinois man charged in a double-shooting of a Paducah man and woman pleaded guilty Tuesday to murder and assault charges.

Court records show Michael Evers of Belknap, Illinois entered guilty pleas to the charges Tuesday in McCracken County Circuit Court.

Evers was arrested after Sheila Lang and Clifford Moore were found shot last April in the Elmwood Court apartment complex. Lang was pronounced dead at a local hospital later that day. Moore survived the shooting.

Judge Tony Kitchen sentenced Evers to 28 years in prison on the murder charge, and 20 years on the assault charge. Those sentences will run concurrently.

Evers will have to serve a minimum of 85 percent of his sentence before he is eligible for parole.
