McCracken County Sheriff's Deputy Chad Shaw passed away Tuesday evening, according to McCracken County Sheriff Jon Hayden.

Shaw, who was 47, had been at Community Christian Academy Tuesday helping the faculty and staff prepare for their meet and greet that was scheduled to kick off the new school year. Shaw collapsed at the school around 6:15 pm, and was immediately taken to Baptist Health Paducah where he passed away a short time later.

The McCracken County Coroner's office is investigating the cause of his death.

Shaw leaves behind his wife and two daughters.

In a press release, Sheriff Hayden praised Shaw for his ability and his character.

"Deputy Shaw will always be remembered for his love for his family, his love for helping others, and the thoroughness in the way he did his job as a public servant for the citizens that he served," Hayden said. "We would ask that everyone pray for his wife Margaret, and their two daughters."
