PADUCAH, KY - A Paducah physician entered an Alford plea in McCracken Circuit Court Thursday in connection to charges that he choked his wife and inflicted other injuries on her during an incident in March of this year.
Court officials say 50-year-old Dr. Shawn Trask issued the plea on a 4th degree domestic violence charge. Other charges, including terroristic threatening, wanton endangerment, and retaliating against a participant in a legal process, were dropped.
Trask will be sentenced Oct. 11 by Circit Judge Craig Clymer. The recommended sentence for Trask includes a twelve month jail sentence, a domestic violence assessment, payment of any unpaid medical bills the victim may have, and he is to have no violent contact with the victim.
McCracken County deputies reportedly found Trask's wife injured at their home March 8 of this year, when they responded to a reported assault. A grand jury returned an indictment on May 18.
