McCracken Man Charged in USEC Property Theft

PADUCAH, KY - A McCracken County man is facing charges of receiving stolen property following an investigation by Ballard and McCracken County Sheriff's detectives that centered around property being stolen during a five-year period from the United States Enirchment Corportation site in Paducah.

Detectives contacted 38-year-old Chris Noles of West Paducah at his home Thursday in regard to the investigation. Noles is an employee of LATA Kentucky (Los Alamos Technical Associates), which is a sub-contractor for the Department of Energy.

Officers say Noles admitted to participating in the removal of property from the USEC facility, pointing them to specific items on his property.

Those items include a single axle 8' tilt trailer, saws, drills, grinders, a welder, and other items.

Noles is charged wth receiving stolen property $10,000 or more.

The case continues to be investigated by law enforcement in both McCracken and Ballard counties.

Officers say additional arrests and charges are likely.

  Usec security is not responsible for what DOE contractors do or say!!!! Their tools are all stored outside the facility.

  I know people that work at USEC. You would not believe the things that "walk off the property" every shift. I hear workers bragging about it.

  @ Bobby: I didn't realize they were underpaid there. Who is underpaid there? If they are so underpaid, why don't they work somewhere else? How much should they be paid? Even if they are underpaid, do you think it is ok to steal if you feel underpaid?

  B.S. USEC does own any property, they lease the buildings/equipment from the DOE. The US government owns the place.

  The headline of the article is wrong, this is not an USEC employee, he just works at PGDP. Also, he was employeed by DOE and the stuff stole is yours and mine stuff, we paid for it with our tax dollars. Probably some of the stimulas money that was wasted out there and drop in the bucket that taken from there by other LATA employees.

  In all fairness to the guards, their job is not to stop thefts but to protect from unauthorized access.
