A McCracken County man, convicted of a terroristic threatening charge in November of last year, was sentenced to three months in jail, with 10 days credit.

Officials with the McCracken County Circuit Court Clerk's Office told West Kentucky Star, that Judge Tony Kitchen handed down the sentence to 35-year-old Robert Ingram on Monday.

The charges stem from what was called a home invasion incident on January 7, 2018. McCracken County Sheriff's detectives say Ingram contacted Eric Howard and threatened to assault him, then came to Howard's Reidland home with Toby Reed. Police say they kicked in the door of the home, but were shot by Howard. Reed died from his wounds, but Ingram recovered, and was indicted by a grand jury in April.

Although Ingram was originally charged with burglary and murder in the case, he was acquitted of those charges during his trial. Testimony in the trial revealed that Ingram had lived at Howard's home at some point, and Commonwealth Attorney Dan Boaz said that may have affected the verdict.

Howard did not face any charges because detectives told the grand jury he was likely acting in self-defense.
