Mercy Health – Lourdes Hospital is partnering with Four Rivers Regional Prevention Center and the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention for a community wide day of healing on Saturday, Nov. 17. That day is designated as International Survivors of Suicide Loss Day when people affected by suicide loss gather to find comfort and gain understanding as they share stories of healing and hope.

The event will be held in the Mercy Health Borders Community Room located in the Marshall Nemer Medical Office Building. The service will be from 4 – 6 pm. There will be a screening of Life Journeys: Reclaiming Life after Loss; a survivors’ loss panel discussion with a question and answer session and a closing remembrance ceremony.

The event is free and open to the public.

In 1999, Senator Harry Reid introduced a resolution to the United States Congress which led to the creation of National Survivors of Suicide Day. Reed is a survivor of his father’s suicide.

This is the third year Mercy Health has hosted this event.
