Mercy Health to Offer Free Flu Shots in Mayfield
By West Kentucky Star Staff
MAYFIELD - Mercy Health - Lourdes Hospital is teaming up with the Graves County Health Department to provide free flu shots on October 26.

In an effort to make flu shots more accessible, Mercy Health - Lourdes Hospital has partnered with the Graves County Health Department to provide free flu shots on Monday, October 26 from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. at Mayfield Plaza. No registration is required, and the shots will be administered on a first-come, first-serve basis while supplies last.

"We are pleased to work with the health department to provide two safe flu shot options for those apprehensive about venturing out," said Mercy Health’s Community Health Manager Leigh Ann Ballegeer. "Mercy Health is committed to making access to flu shots easy and our Graves County clinic is one more way we are meeting that commitment."

With the safety and comfort of attendees in mind, the event will offer both drive-thru and socially distant options.

The vaccinations will be free for those without insurance. Most insurance and Medicaid will cover the cost of the vaccines, so those with insurance are asked to bring their proof of insurance.

The shots will be available to anyone six months of age or older. Minors will need to have a parent or guardian with them to receive immunizations.

For anyone using the drive-thru option, participants can park and stay in their vehicle. Those attending without a car, an outside tent will be set up with physically-distanced chairs available. Social distancing, masking, and sanitizing will be enforced during the event.
