LONE OAK, KY - An hourlong debate on the proposed Paducah-McCracken County merger is set for 6 pm Saturday at the St. John Picnic.
Kyle Poat, a member of the picnic planning committee, said the merger debate will replace the usual political candidates speaking at the picnic.
Representatives of each side will be given 20 minutes to state their case, and the last 20 minutes, they'll answer questions from the crowd or the panel.
The "Biggest Little Picnic in Western Kentucky" continues today from 11 am to 9 pm Saturday with food, games and entertainment.
Bar-B-Que Pork, Mutton, Ribs and Chicken will be served with all the fixins.
Bingo will be available with air conditioning.
Live music and entertainment all day long, featuring a concert Saturday evening by Darren Warren.
Shuttle buses will run between the church grounds and KC Hall.
The picnic is held on the church grounds just north of the McCracken-Graves county line off U.S. 45.
