Murder Suspect Surrenders to Police

A Clinton man charged in the death of a Paducah resident last week has turned himself in to police.

Paducah Police said 32-year-old Mauricus S. Haynes turned himself in at the Paducah Police Department early Wednesday morning. After interviewing Haynes, Police charged him with murder for the shooting death of 34-year-old Nathanial G. Cody, of Paducah. Haynes was booked into the McCracken County Jail.

Officers said they found Cody lying in the roadway in the 1300 block of Burnett Street on September 24 just after 12:00 am with a gunshot wound to his chest. He was taken to Baptist Health Paducah, where he was pronounced dead.

Police said Haynes and Cody were acquaintances.
