A two day investigation has led to the arrest of nine people on drug charges.

At around 8:00 pm Wednesday, McCracken County Sheriff's Deputies pulled over a vehicle occupied by 42-year-old Betty Rogers, of Salem and 33-year-old Eric McDowell, of Smithland for traffic violations. Police said deputies searched the vehicle and found meth and drug paraphernalia. Both Rogers and McDowell were arrested for possession of meth and paraphernalia and were taken to the McCracken County Jail.

Police said that at around 8:47 pm the same day, detectives stopped another vehicle on Blandville Road driven by 44-year-old William Cathey, of Paducah. According to police, they arrested Cathey for trafficking meth and tampering with evidence after he dropped some meth on the ground and attempted to hide it during the stop.

Later that night detectives got search warrants for two McCracken County homes they served early Thursday morning. Detectives arrested 37-year-old Samuel M. Lefevre, of Paducah on possession of meth, marijuana and paraphernalia at his Forest Avenue home after they say meth, marijuana and drug paraphernalia were found.

During the execution of the second warrant at Cathey's Highland Church Road home, detectives arrested 45-year-old David E. Frensley on trafficking in methamphetamine, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia charges. Police also arrested 28-year-old Megan M. Parkins, of Metropolis, IL for possession of methamphetamine, possession of marijuana, paraphernalia and tampering with physical evidence. Police said Parkins tried to hide meth behind a TV when they arrived at the home. Detectives said they seized meth packaged for sale, scales, marijuana and drug paraphernalia from the home. When they were still there, police said Frensley’s cell phone began receiving messages from 24-year-old Jeri V. McKenzie and 26-year-old Anthony McIntosh, who they say were wanting to buy meth. Detectives said they set up a deal and arranged to sell them some meth. Police arrested the couple when they arrived at the home a short time later. Both are charged with solicitation to possession of methamphetamine.

Detectives continued their investigation and say they later identified a Tennessee man as the source of the meth supply. A joint investigation by several agencies led to the arrest of 22-year-old Mauricio Ramirez, of Union City, TN, after they say he drove to the Mayfield area to deliver a large amount of meth. He is charged with trafficking methamphetamine.

Detectives said they seized about 280 grams of meth during the investigations. They estimate the street value of the drugs to be about $28,000. The investigation involved detectives from McCracken County Sheriff’s Department, Marshall County Sheriff’s Department, Kentucky State Police, ATF, and Graves County Sheriff’s Department.
