At Monday's meeting of the McCracken County Fiscal Court, representatives from Murray State University spoke about the success of the new Paducah Regional Campus facility.

MSU Dean of Continuing Education Dr. Brian Van Horn said Paducah enrollment has gone up almost a third since the new facility, located at 4430 Sunset Avenue was built.

If you look at what we did in the spring of 2013 versus what we did in the spring of 2014, We're up almost thirty percent," Van Horn said. "If you look at May 2014, we've had 75 individuals that have graduated from our program, 42 of which with master's degrees.."

Van Horn also congratulated several regional campus students for winning awards, including Outstanding Special Education Scholar Melissa Brooks.

Van Horn also said MSU will be offering former Mid-Continent students a 15 percent discount on all online courses. "We're reaching out to help those students. This new facility is allowing us to do that more and more." Van Horn said.

In other business, the Fiscal Court approved Ryan Brown as the new Director of the McCracken County Animal Shelter.

"I'm looking forward to the job," Brown said.
