For a local doctor, his most recent encounter with an aggressive owl proved to be anything but a hootenanny.
Dr. Mark Vance of Paducah told WPSD-TV that he's been attacked by the bird four times in recent weeks as he leaves on his bike just before sunrise.
On Monday, Vance caught an attack on his cellphone. He attributes the aerial assaults to his home sharing territory with the owl.
Biologist Karen Hlinka says owls are normally private animals that are nocturnal and don't have contact with people.
Kentucky Fish and Wildlife Conservation Officer Garry Clark says he's notified a federal agent in Frankfort about the situation.
Under federal law, it is illegal to capture or kill a long list of birds without a special permit.
