Registration for Paducah School of Art and Design summer Master Artist Workshops Program is underway. The program features leading artists and educators from across the country that will share their expertise in ceramics and jewelry and small metals. Workshops are offered for both advanced and beginner participants.
 
Beginning July 7 and throughout the summer, individuals can select from two and three-day workshops with master artists Tim Lazure, Yoshi Fujii, Jill Baker Gower, Elaine Henry and Sunshine Cobb.
 
“Offering these unique workshops with the leading artists and educators from around the country is our continued commitment to provide the highest quality learning opportunities to our community,” said Paul Aho, PSAD dean.
 
July 7-9
Tim Lazure – Stone Setting Intensive
Advanced and Beginner Students
Participants will have the opportunity to dedicate time to honing their skills in stone setting in this three-day workshop that will cover a wide variety of stone setting techniques such as tube, flush, prong and bezel stone setting, with ample time to practice each one. Although this workshop is designed for individuals with basic metalsmithing skills, it’s also suitable for beginners. Cost: $290.
 
July 8-9
Yoshi Fujii- Carving and Surface Embellishments
Advanced Students
During this two-day workshop, participants will be introduced to surface embellishments through carving the leather-hard surface of simple forms. Students will explore the elegant quality of porcelain and seductive beauty possible through patterns and motifs, hard-carved lines and physical depths for visual richness and communication. Previous clay experienced required, open to hand-builders and wheel-throwers. Students are encouraged to bring leather-hard pots or tiles and design references. The use of grog-free clay highly recommended. Cost: $180.
 
July 22-24
Jill Baker Gower – Etched and Hollow Constructed Jewelry
Advanced and Beginner Students
Create unique, one of a kind jewelry using the etching process in this three-day workshop. Students will learn salt water etching to create patterns, imagery, words, and/or textures on copper or brass sheet metal, as well as how to use etched metal to create individual designs and hollow form jewelry. Beginning students and others with prior metalsmithing experiences welcome.  Cost: $290
