McCracken County Property Valuation Administrator Nancy Bock has resigned.

An employee at the McCracken County PVA office told West Kentucky Star Friday morning that Bock had issued her resignation on Thursday. Larry Geibe has been appointed interim PVA.

Bock's attorney, Mark Bryant, said she was indicted Friday on five counts of theft and one count of forgery, related to her use of state credit cards on personal trips over several years.

Bryant said Bock will turn herself in on Monday, post bond, and pay full restitution. He expects Bock to enter a guilty plea at an arraignment at some point in the future.

Kentucky State Police began investigating Bock in March, after receiving a criminal complaint against her. Special Prosecutor Mike Stacy requested in July that her case be sent to a grand jury.

Bryant said, "Nancy worked for the PVA for some 40 years. She was PVA here and never had a hint of scandal, and a very nice person. She is extremely sorrowful for it, and she is making restitution for it. We had hoped that we could come in and make restitution today, but they don't know exactly who the money is supposed to go to."

Bryant said the total amount of non-reimbursed charges on the cards was $5,200. He said Bock used the cards on trips to see family in Mississippi.

He said, "If she had paid it off back then it would not have been a crime, but now, after several years of not doing that, the Grand Jury heard it and decided that was beyond just making a mistake every once in a while, that was criminal conduct."

Bock won the May Democratic primary and was unopposed in November. McCracken County Clerk Julie Griggs told West Kentucky Star Friday that after speaking with a state election official at a workshop she was attending, she will now confer with County Attorney Sam Clymer on Monday to determine how to proceed with electing someone as PVA. She said they will notify the public about the process.
